Three suspected kidnappers arrested in Kano for threatening to abduct man and family members if he fails to pay N2m

Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested three suspected kidnappers at Sharada quarters of the state. 
 

Spokesman of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said the suspects were arrested following a report received from a resident that he was contacted and threatened on the telephone to pay the sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000:00), otherwise, himself or any member of his family would be kidnapped.
 

Kiyawa noted that the complainant had earlier given N1m to the suspects after they made similar threats. 

 
“On the 23/09/2021 at about 1746hrs, a report was received from a resident of Kwanar Ganduje, Sharada Phase II Quarters, Kano, that he was contacted and threatened on the telephone to pay the sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000:00), otherwise, himself or any member of his family would be kidnapped,” Kiyawa stated.
 

“He said that sometimes in the month of August 2021, he was contacted with the same phone number and was threatened to be kidnap, where he gave the sum of One Million Naira (N1,000,000:00).”
 

“Upon receipt of the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Kano state Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Shehu Dahiru to trace and arrest the culprit. The team swiftly swung into action
 

“Following credible intelligence and sustained follow-up, trace and arrested the suspects; (i) Salihu Usman, ‘m’, 24 years old, of Anguwan Rogo, Jos, Plateau State, (ii) Mubarak Aliyu, ‘m’, 18 years old, of Duwala area, Jos, Plateau State and (iii) Sahibul Husna Auwal, ‘m’, 17 years old, of Kwanar Ganduje Sharada Quarters, Kano
 

“On preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to have conspired and sent threatening text messages to the complainant demanding the sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000:00), they also confessed to have previously collected the sum of One Million Naira (N1,000,000:00) from him. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
