Owen Hargreaves has insists Man Utd that they have to appoint Solskjaer on a full- time basis

Owen Hargreaves believes Manchester United have no choice but to appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their permanent manager, claiming the Norwegian has turned Paul Pogba into one of the best players in the world. Former United striker Solskjaer has rejuvenated United since taking over the reins from Jose Mourinho in December, winning 10 of his first 11 Premier League games in charge. Players such as Anthony Martial and French World Cup winner Pogba look to have found a new lease of life under his stewardship, and former Red Devils midfielder Hargreaves believes the Old Trafford hierarchy have little choice but to give Solskjaer the job full time. Speaking on BT Sport before Tuesday night’s clash with Paris Saint-Germain, Hargreaves said: ‘It would be impossible not to give him the job unless he gets blown away by PSG, which is not going to happen. ‘I think it’s his job. The reason it hasn’t been given to him already is probably because they want to wait until the season finishes. ‘Since he’s taken over they’ve been the best team in the Premier League. They’re the highest- scoring team, defensively they’ve improved and Pogba looks like one of the best players in the world.’ Club record signing Pogba has taken his game to new heights under Solskjaer, showing why Ed Woodward was willing to spend £89million to bring him back to the club in August 2016. The Frenchman has scored eight league goals under the new manager, more than double his league return while playing for Mourinho this season. Pogba’s strike return has also hit double figures in the league for the first time in his career. For fellow BT Sport pundits Rio Ferdinand and Paul Ince, Pogba has revealed his true qualities as a complete midfielder. Ince said: ‘When you look at him now he looks like the complete midfield player. ‘He’s back to the old box-to-box. He’s defending and he’s getting forward. Herrera and Matic allow him to do that and he scores all types of goals. Ferdinand added: ‘He’s had more goal involvements than any other player in the top five leagues since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come in. ‘He’s the most effective player in Europe right now. Fact.’
