Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun has ordered the immediate reimbursement of N25,000 paid by private boarding students for the COVID-19 and malaria test as a condition for resumption.
Recall that private boarding schools were informed on Sunday to make a payment of N25,000 for the COVID-19 tests. This however did not sit well with parents as Governor Abiodun was heavily back-lashed after.
It also led to demonstrations in the state by parents. Reconsidering the government’s position on the matter, Abiodun rescinded the decision and decided to suspend further payment of any monies for COVID-19 tests.
“After reviewing these developments, I have today immediately directed that the government laboratories carry out test for all returning SS3 boarding students at no cost. “I have also directed that all those who have paid for tests be refunded,” he said.
