A WhatsApp conversation between a couple has surfaced online and it shows the two of them debating over expectations from each other.
The girlfriend could be seen in the chat complaining about how her boyfriend always wants to exert his role as the man of the relationship and beats her at times to show it, she also hinted that although his rent and bills are being paid by her, she doesn’t see him as being less of a man.
The man known as Kenechukwu drew his girlfriend’s attention to his inadequacy with regards to how her funding of the relationship makes him seem like a weakling, hence his decision to be beating her.
He also said that because she’s the one providing, she doesn’t submit to him, adding that he does not like when she opposes any of his ideas or instructions.
She told her man that gone are the days when women blindly follow their man’s directions without question, that if she thinks his idea or suggestion is wrong, she’ll speak up.
But Kenechukwu insisted that a woman must be submissive and that she’s only being defiant because 21st century and her financial independence is blinding her.
After a lengthy debate, the lady who appeared fed up told him that she’s done with the relationship.
