EPL: Manchester Utd To Battle Chelsea To Sign Star After Rangnick’s Arrival

SuperDeporte reports that Manchester United are well placed to make a swoop for the highly-rated Sevilla defender.

The report added that Sevilla is already on the hunt for a replacement for Kounde.

Kounde is considered as one of the most promising young defenders in the world and has attracted interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea in the past.

The 23-year-old wanted to move to Chelsea last summer, with the Champions League holders keen to do a deal for him.

Chelsea initially believed they had reached an agreement over Kounde’s fee, only for Sevilla to raise their asking price for the centre-back by £12.8million to £68.5m, a figure which the Stamford Bridge club refused to match.

Meanwhile, speaking about Kounde, Sevilla’s sporting director, Monchi, said in August this year that they will sell the player to Chelsea or other clubs if an acceptable bid is tabled for the France defender.

“Many clubs have asked for Kounde,” Monchi said.

“Of course, there is interest, but no official offer is on the table.

“I don’t know what is going to happen. We will sell if an important bid arrives, this is our policy to improve the team.”
