COVID-19 In Calabar, State Government Limits Cross Over Night Service To 10PM

Due to the second wave of covid-19 pandemic, calabar state government have limited cross over night service to time to 10pm

Christian religious crossover night service which normally holds between 31s day of December to 1st of January was restricted to 10pm in Cross River State because of the return of Corona Virus curfew.


In a statement titled “RE: DEC 31st CROSS OVER VIGIL SERVICE”, signed by Fr. Bob B. Etta,Senior Special Adviser Religious Matters and distributed to Chairman CAN, Heads of Blocks, Heads of Churches and Religious leaders, the government ordered Christians to be mindful of the current curfew imposed by the state government.

He said


“Conscious of the recent rise in number of cases of COVID-19 in the country, and the need to maintain the improved security situation in the State, His Excellency Sir Ben Ayade the Governor of Cross River State has directed thus: “The present curfew between 10:00pm – 6:00am is still in place. Churches should fix their Cross Over services within the time permitted. Churches Should enforce the laid down protocols for COVID-19.”

Government of Calabar added that wearing of face mask in public worship, washing of hands, use of hand sanitizer and regular observance of social distancing is compulsory to anybody within the state.
