Carpenter stabbed to death while trying to save sex worker from being beaten over quickie

A carpenter who sought to protect a sex worker from being beaten, unfortunately ended up getting stabbed to death with a broken bottle.

The incident reportedly occurred in Kogi state on Monday where the deceased known as Lukeman Kabiru attempted to restrain his neighbour identified as Murtala Dare from assaulting a prostitute at a popular bar in Lokoja.

Dare and Lukeman who are said to be neighbours, own shops opposite the popular beer parlour and sex workers use the enclosed back building for short time sex.

According to reports, the culprit, Dare who is now in police custody over murder, wanted to beat the prostitute for taking a customer to the back of the building for a quickie without paying him first.

He usually collects money for the use of the place, so he angrily interrupted the quickie between the prostitute and her customer, threatening to beat her for not paying him in advance.

The late Lukeman tried to intervene by stopping Dare who is now in police custody from assaulting the prostitute, the suspect however, got infuriated, broke a bottle and allegedly stabbed Lukeman on the neck.

DSP William Aya, Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), confirmed the suspect was arrested in his hideout at the back of a Total Filling Station in Lokoja.
