A pregnant woman was beaten up by a SARS official for recording the assault of a footballer in Lagos

There was pandemonium at Mokoya Street, Olodi area of Apapa, as some Police officers identified as Ade, Tom, Polo and Walter, all attached to the Tolu police station, Ajegunle, assaulted a football player named Ogbuechi Osinachi Charles, a six-month-old pregnant and her friend. 


According to reports, the pregnant woman was beaten by one of the SARS officers named Ade, for filming the assault on the said footballer who plays with an Egyptian club.View .

It was gathered that the footballer was approached aggressively by the police officers who asked him to come down from his car and subsequently, enter their own patrol van. An eye witness revealed that, trouble started when Ogbuechi asked to know the reason for his arrest.

He alleged that same Ade, hit the base of his gun on the footballer’s head, and his colleagues shot their gun to scare away the crowd who gathered for protest.

However, the pregnant woman who has been recording this incident got her phone seized and was beaten by the policeman. Her friend who confronted the Officer for his action was equally beaten, her upper lip torn in the process. A twitter user who witnessed this event wrote; “just because she tried to stop him from beating up a pregnant woman for making videos of other policemen harassing young boys in that area for some reasons.”Furthermore, the injured lady was rushed to the hospital for treatment.Police brutality is really getting out of hand, we call on the relevant authorities to act fast and ensure justice prevails.
